Online/Remote Mental Health & Wellness Options

  • Therapy Assistance Online (TAO): Free to all UC students. Visit Counseling & Psychological Services Therapy Assistance Online (TAO)  for more information and to access the TAO platform.
  • Reach Out University of Cincinnati: A free app for UC and Cincinnati-specific emergency mental health resources. Visit Reach Out for information about how to find and download the Reach Out app.
  • Betterhelp.com/united: is covered for UC SHI policy holders
  • Betterhelp.com: Online, subscription-based platform for telemental health services. May not be covered by insurance.
  • Talkspace.com: Online, subscription-based platform for telemental health services. May not be covered by insurance.
  • Calm.com: Online mindfulness, sleep, and wellness app. Offers a free trial. If you link to the site through crooked.com/sponsors you can get additional discounts on the subscription services. Discounts through Crooked.com change periodically and may not always be available. This discount is active as of 3-19-2020.
  • Headspace.com: Online meditation, sleep, and wellness app. Currently offering free services for healthcare workers with an NPI number. Offers a free trial, with subscription pricing after trial expires.
  • CBT-I Coach: A free app from the VA and Stanford University for assistance with managing insomnia. Includes basic sleep hygiene tips, a sleep log, recommendations for sleep times, and mindfulness activities. It is recommended as an adjunct to face to face treatment, but can be helpful on its own. Please note that sleep restriction protocols (part of the app) are *not* recommended for people with bipolar disorder, but the rest of the information can be very useful.

Emergency walk-in services for urgent care are immediately available during regular business hours. After hours emergency, please contact:

911 or go straight to University of Cincinnati Medical Center Emergency Department or your closest Emergency Department.

University Delays & Closures

If your appointment time falls within the time range of a delayed start, early closure, or full day closure for UC's Clifton/Main campus, the UHS Mental Health & Psychiatry clinics will be closed, and your appointment will be automatically cancelled. Your provider will be in touch as soon as possible once normal business hours resume to reschedule any appointments affected by the closure. The Mental Health and Psychiatry clinic hours are NOT affected by delays or closures of UC Clermont or UC Blue Ash. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency during a clinic closure, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or go to the UC Psychiatric Emergency Service located at 3200 Burnet Avenue.
