Research Interests

Daniel Kanter, MD is professor of Neurology in the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine and serves as director of the Neurocritical Care Program within the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute. He joined UC Health and the University of Cincinnati Stroke Team in 1997. He has taken an active role in the care of patients with complex cerebrovascular problems both as inpatients and outpatients. As a member of the UC Stroke Team, he has treated patients with acute stroke at every major hospital in the Cincinnati area. In 2012, he shifted to the field of Neurocritical Care by joining the staff of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at UC Medical Center and became medical director of the unit in 2013. Formerly, he was the director of Brigham and Women's neurointensive care unit. He has been in Cincinnati since 1998 and medical director of our unit since 2013.
